May 1945in optics of journal Mlada fronta in time-spiral of 65 years

The thesis "Looking through the lens of the Czech daily newspaper Mlada fronta for 65 years" examines the topic of the liberation of Czechoslovakia in May, 1945. The qualitative content analysis of selected texts available from the newspaper is used to explore the interpretation of the event in Mlada fronta. The thesis has concentrated on the development of attitudes, beliefs, ways of communications and journalistic transformation of media content concerning the liberation event over time. The main objective has been to answer the question as to whether the media portrayal of the event has remained constant or altered over the stated time period and which factors influenced the portrayal. In the conclusion of this thesis we can confirm that the monitored event has been described differently in different time periods respectively, in connection with political progress and the value of democracy in the country. The more totalitarian the regime, the more the newspaper has described freedom through preferred ideology, biased themes, dogmatic posture and offered interpretations that suited the ruling party. The thesis "Typography of the monthly magazine Žena a móda (1949-1995)" deals with the graphical appearance of this magazine and describes the changes in its typography. Magazine ran from January 1949 to July 1995, when it was cancelled because of financial difficulties. The aim of this thesis is to divide the years of Žena a móda's existence into periods, depending on its specific graphical appearance. This bachelor thesis outlines the historical context, technical conditions and the influence the Marxism-Leninism had on the graphic design. Moreover, the basic vocabulary of typographical terms is included. The thesis analyses the graphical appearance of the magazine periodically, with the focus on physical qualities, typesetting, typeface, headlines, front pages or advertisement. Furthermore, the graphical appearance of the world's most famous magazines is outlined briefly towards the end of the thesis, as well as the magazine's competition after 1989. Tag phenomenon on Flickr.com and its impact on interpretion extension of photography

I Abstract The first chapter of the thesis is devoted to the Flickr.com website and its evolution from its foundation until the present and to the posibility of its usage as a news source. The second chapter further explores the concept of folksonomy itself, it presents its definition, the basic approaches to its typology and singly it disserts on tag, on its forms and functions on the Flickr.com website. In the third chapter we will elaborate on the status of photography in its digital form, on its unstability and predisposition to be subject to language. The forth chapter puts forward the characteristics of text in the sphere of Internet, that of its nonlinearity, and it goes on about titles, captions and text as such in relation to photography. The fifth chapter then details the ability of tags to influence the perception of photography in the cyberspace and it addresses another phenomenon, that of the notes. The sixth and the last chapter presents the results of the "Flickrdream" research, whose objective was to find out to what degree are the tags in relation with photos on Flickr capable to comply with representation of such a complex phenomenon as a dream.
